I’m so happy to hear than John Z!
We encourage people to use whatever path is best for them. When people have a supportive and understanding mental health provider, that’s awesome! I absolutely prefer my emotional support animal to the pills I used to take. I’m a much better person and I feel much better.
For any questions, please contact us via the phone number on the website. Someone will be able to speak with you to explain the process and what all is involved.
]]>Bobbi – Thank you for your input. I’d like to begin by letting you know we are absolutely not a scam. The Mental Health Professionals we work with are not incentivized to recommend individuals for an Emotional Support Animal.
As far as people going to their own Doctor. That’s absolutely fine and we encourage that. The issue here is that many physicians are not necessarily focused on animal-assistance as a go-to modality for treatment. If, for instance, you mention you have issues with anxiety, your far more likely to be offered a prescription for pills rather than encouraged to explore how an animal may help (this was my exact experience).
CertaPet is the only solution and shouldn’t be people’s only consideration. We aren’t going to rubber stamp something for you and we aren’t going to approve your pet peacock. If someone feels comfortable speaking to your therapist about this, they definitely should.
Talk to your psychiatrist or other mental health professional. This is a scam. Please talk to a real life licensed mental health physician in your area. This is a scam!
]]>As a president of a homeowners association, we are a no-pet community but now we have several residents moving in with emotional support pets I need to know exactly what these letters are that they have to provide us about their pets. I get a lot of different feedback, and several homeowners are upset that anybody can move in now with a Pat and just say that it’s a emotional support animal.
